Way forward on Charvil Sinkhole provisionally agreed

Wokingham Borough Council and Charvil Parish Council have been working together to fix the sinkhole and get the car park open again as soon as possible.

We know having it closed has inconvenienced residents, the school and the local community.

The borough and parish councils have agreed a way forward that will begin the repair works as soon as possible and will update the community when we know more.

Wokingham Borough Council, Cllr Stephen Conway, leader of the council said: “We would like to thank residents for their patience while we worked through this process.

“The two councils will be working closely together to get the car park repaired and safe to re-open as soon as possible. Expect to see works on site very soon.”

Pat Sutlieff, Chair of Charvil Parish Council said: “Charvil Parish Council is pleased to confirm that a meeting between representatives of WBC and the Parish Council has produced a proposal to start works on the sinkhole as soon as possible. Following normal democratic principles, this proposal must be ratified by the Parish Council before being formally adopted. Accordingly, we shall be holding a meeting on Monday 29th Jan to discuss and hopefully give approval to the plan.”
