Further Update on the Sinkhole

At our Extra-ordinary Meeting of the Council in January, it was resolved that the cost of the sinkhole investigations and repairs would be shared jointly between Charvil Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council.

As a result, over the last few weeks, Consultants have been appointed and are undertaking further exploratory work, including trying to pinpoint the cause of the hole, so that the most effective repair can be made in due course.

This process has been slower than initially expected, as an investigation of plans & reports for the full site and surrounding area is undertaken. Once the Consultants have formulated a course of action, we hope that the hole will be repaired as soon as possible.

You may notice some further exploratory work taking place around the car park in the next few weeks, including some excavation and drilling works. Please exercise caution around the site during these works, and stay away from areas that are cordoned off.

We appreciate your continued patience as we work to find a suitable and sustainable resolution. We would ask that consideration is given to parking along Park Lane, taking into account the safety of pedestrians and other road users.
